View Full Version : Demo Reel: Surreal
Geeves 10-03-2003, 05:44 PM Hello all,
I completed my demo reel a few months back while at VFS and I've finally gotten around to posting it.
It is my first piece and is undoubtedly a little rough but I would appreciate any feedback.
:buttrock: <--that is too sweet not to include somewhere
This link goes to my website where I've got Cinepak and DivX versions:

you should have got more replys,
This is what I thought of it.
I dont think you showcased your talent well enough in this movie. I can see great modeling and animation, but the story was really dull. This is only my opinion on it though. You need something that is going to grab there attention. Its very surreal, so I understand it being different. But I thought it dragged on a bit too long and it was kinda boring. plus 60 meg is alot to download. .but theres not much you can do about that
With that said though, Good modeling and animation and nice atmosphere at the end! :) But yah... litte to long and not enough zip to keep me interested
congradulations on finishing your piece!

Thanks for the reply Roarty.
I appreciate the critique. I'll work on getting the file size down, but it ain't gonna be easy.

Bizzare!
I actually liked the story and thought it was quite good! Don't change a thing witht that regard. The cigarette smoke particles stand out as the sloppiest. I would make those look a bit more realistic. Then i would just work on your chars expressions a bit more. He seemed slow like and old man but not feeble like you would expect. maybe some shaking hands and wobbly knees when he walks. With his current posture, maybe a cane to help him walk along?
Your water works were all excellent btw. The ideas were all very original and the hummingbird was pulled off nicely. The landscape in the 2nd area was simply beautiful! I did notice you could see the hinge on th etop of his head though later on, not sure if that was intentional. With a little polish this will come along great!

Late!

Wow....another VFS grad. They just keep pumping people out as the demand for artists grows smaller and smaller.
I was in class 32. Didn't like that school but it got me a job at Mainframe and taught me what I needed to know.
This is almost a community board with all the VFS posts.
