View Full Version : F8- Component mode trouble....

Hei!

I always used F8 to go into the component mode. Now suddenly when I press F8 in the selected object, nothing happens... I can see the component mode is turned on in the status line, but the object in the viewport stays the same, does't show vertices, CV's or other components... I'm pretty sure I somehow messed my settings, I just dunno how...

If you are using some of the new Microsoft keyboads (or similar), make sure the F Lock is on.

Any, it may not be keyboard related. So try press the q key and left click in the view port to access the Select Tool Mask Marking Menu. The Object/Components switch is in the north west direction. I personally switch between Object/Components using this method because I think the F8 is a bit too far and not intuitive to find.

P.S. Man, Microsoft always does something funny on their keyboard. Why can't they just use a normal, standard layout on their design.

No that's not it...:(

Using the marking menu is the same as pressing F8. And I don't have Microsoft keyboard. As I said it used to work just until a few days ago. As I go to component mode, gometry doesn't show vertices, but if I press RMB on the object and select the vertex component, they do show up ?????

Sounds strange indeed.

Are you really sure that you have the right settings enabled in the Status Line? If not, make sure that "Select component type: points" is enabled.

Ok!

Have you tried to remove your "userPrefs.mel" file!
This file gets corrupted sometimes and can cause Maya to behave strange...
