Hi peeps, this is my first post on this site.

I modelled the head in Softimage 3.9.2 a couple of years ago. I subdivided it in XSI 1.5 and I've textured and rendered it in Max. I created the textures from two hi-res images of my face that I took in my old college studio. I recently put the model in Max and used Brazil for rendering and lighting. I've messed about with Sub Surface Scattering and Depth of Field to achieve the results.

C & C is very welcome. I've been blown away by the quality of work on this site, it's simply amazing.

Cheers guys

I'd like to see more of the rendered head to draw a better conclusion......but I sure like what I see so far!

The ear definitely needs work tho'

Theres good reason for not showing much; I haven't textured the side of my head. I have done in XSI but I can't get a look Im happy with. In Max, I just projected a front facing texture, so the side of the head is untextured :annoyed:

Anyway, here is a wider shot

Thanks again!

The face and the texturing look very nice, but I agree with Agreenster about the ears though; they do need a little work. However, I totally don't blame you. Ears are SO HARD to do. It took me about 5 hours to model my first ear. :banghead:

Looks kinda like Cinematograpy' avatar pic....is it just coincidence, or is my head spinning like a top at the shocking reality of it all? :-)

Very good likeness!

Looks great KnickKnack, however I have one criticism.

If this is a self-portrait, why is the model's head so large? Surely you've tried to make it as close to reality as possible, yet the head looks out of proportion to the face and ears.

Other than that, great work!

:applause:

You can generally ignore that last comment. The man is mentally deranged :D (I know him, don't worry)

I'm realitively new to face modeling, but from what I've learned I think you need to take a look at your edgeloops and flow around your mouth and nose.

Nice one so far. But can you tell me why a man of sound mind continues to texture and render with max when he started with XSI? It's like going half the way in a ferrari and then changing to a scooter. WHY???

Looks pretty good... although it would seem to be poor topology that would have so many triangles. It may not be a problem until your start to deform or animate facial expressions but I think that the low res "poly" cage for sub-d's should try to stick with quads as much as possible. They are alot of messy and complex intersections going in there that are unneccessary and avoidable.

Hmmm.. after looking at your nostrils in the closeup I have decided that they are too shallow..
