View Full Version : high poly model - mapping help

Hi guys - i'd appreciate a method to map this uncompleted dino - not smoothed out quite yet. - I'd appreciate some advice.

P.S. I usually unwrap the mesh and use planar mapping, but htis is a little too high in poly count to do this.

I modelled this with splines in max 4.

This pic was doing the same as above but applying a planar to the body. Sorry abouth the hands - a little too alien like at the moment.

Very nice,even if the arms are abit dodgy.

Hey vfx, I think something that will help you in figuring out how to make your maps work is in this thread in the texturing forum, so go here and check out chico's 2nd and third postings in here, it should help a lot:

Good work by the way, but what's up with the inner toes sticking up?

Yeah having taken a moment to look at the inner large claw, it aint really in the right place nor is it big enough. I'll take these into account as I work on completing the model.
