knower 09-16-2010, 03:59 PM Hi everybody.
I am working on my new Lighting Reel.
This is a frame of the first sequence (hope this is the right section to post).
Is rendered with Renderman for Maya, only direct lighting, no HDRI or GI.
Just a pass of point based occlusion.
Render time 4min 30sec on Q6600 quad core at 1280x720.
Some color grading in Fusion.
Hope to receive your comments.

This is another frame of the reel.
This time a fully procedural apple, created only with Maya nodes.
No Global Illumination or HDRI, just direct lighting.
Rendered in Renderman For Maya.
Hope you like it.

damn!!, i would sure like to see your workflow in a tutorial too. those images are amazing specially the light house and piano. cant wait to see your finished reel. i kinda feel like doing some photoreal practice , i totally suck at it but you make it look very nice with the cool compositions you have and coloring. inspiring

Te lighthouse perhaps wouldn't have such a bright sky, and the apple realistically would be a bit less polished, but.. in stores you can see almost the same gloss. Images look very good.

thanks mister3d,
the lighthouse should be a little less brighter i guess, this is a thing I'll correct.
as for the apple, well it is a studio shooting simulation, where they put some special liquid to get this effects.
in the reel there will be source image for each sequence.
thanks a lot

I agree about the apple, that's why I said even in stores they can look polished. In the last image the metal looks a bit diffuse, i.e either it should have more contrast in lighting planes (black-white), or the material could use less diffuse value.

Ok here there is another one.
Is still a wip, but I'll spend only a few hours more on it.
Modeled in Modo.
Shading Lighting and Rendering in Maya & Renderman.
Direct lighting only, no GI o HDRI.
There is an occlusion pass.
7min on a quad core q6600.
