Looks pretty good! You may want to look at the shape (or lack of) in the lower arm and the shape of the hands. they need a bit more definition.
I uploaded a character that I am currently working on, maybe it can help you.

Do not invent muscles. This is an order! :)

What I mean is: look for reference and try to follow it carefully. Now the arms, deltoids etc. have these bumpy surfaces that do not follow any _real_ muscles. Look for correct anatomy reference (muscles below the skin and body builders) and tune it down a litle.

I would expect a buff chick to have a neck which wasn't quite so spindly.

The model's looking great..

The only thing that stands out to me is the bicep muscle. On your model it's sitting on "top" of the arm there. And you have the shoulder muscle sitting pretty high up.. I attached a small sketch that I did over your last jpeg post, so you can see what I'm talking about. Like it was mentioned, an anatomy book is crucial to modeling.. Better yet, it's critical to modeling correctly. I've found a bunch at barnes and noble on clearance.. good stuff. Now my sketch is not the best.. I did it quickly; I just wanted you to get the idea. :-)

PS- sorry.. I really had to shrink the pic down in order to attach to the post.. I don't have my site running yet to just hyperlink it. :-(

It is looking a lot better! The biggest thing is that the bicep should be more on the front of the arm.
When you look at the hand (the way it's rotated towards the camera) the bicep is to much on top of the arm.
You might wanna think about giving the top stomach muscles more definition than the lower one...that's the muscle that has the most definition.
Oh..and try giving the colarbone some more shape..
The rest is looking decent though, keep it up!

robberthesp: you'll get critiques if you post your work on it's on thread. :-) That way, people will see it easier. So far, though, it's coming along well.

thank you very much guys your crits are very helpful. it seems the majority of crits are related to the bicep area and i'll get working on those.

someone requested a wire so im posting the wire for now which has a little update. (wires are very messy though)

more insights welcomed on the model please?

Are those veins you're modeling on the arms and over the breasts? If so, I would leave that to bump mapping..that can get messy real quick.
Also, I find from personal experience (and based on general modeling advice) that it is better to model the arms from either a lowered pose or straight out classic. That helps in modeling the shoulder mucles, because you're either at it's stretched or flexed pose. The shoulders are looking good though.. I find that to be the most difficult part personally for me.

Keep it rolling.

before you get too worked up about details, you should block out the entire body to ensure realistic proportions. Generic proportions found in many art books are a good place to start, however I urge you to get photo reference of female body builders and other athletes. If she is really huge, just model her like a guy, but with slightly wider hips, and a female face, and hair style. Male and Female muscles are all pretty much the same, with females having a layer of fat smoothing them out. Pro female bodybuilders will dehydrate themselves to get that ripped look.
good luck, and study your photos hard.

When I think of a buff chick I think of Bisley. Here are some good refs for you to try out... and Check out Boris Vallejo Life studies.
He seams to caputure the female muscle structure well!

Good Luck.
