View Full Version : characters: daily model
jacobt 10-01-2003, 05:15 PM Ok I'm not sure this will work or not but.... that's the whole point.
I am trying to figure out how quickly I can model different characters, and identify what areas need fixing. So I'm going to model a daily character for a while until I get tired of it. I'll start with basic stuff and then branch out.
Here's the first one, a female, 1614 poly. 8 hrs work.

Has that polycount been triangulated?
Looks tasty enough though. Especially well done considering the timeframe. Her forearms seem to loose a bit of defintion.. maybe some could be taken from the face, where it looks a bit dense.

Yep, triangulated. I always get all surpised at how low you can go with base models. Ya the face is a bit of a hack job. I'll do a better one today.
Do ya reckon it will deform properly?
I suck at rigging at the moment and need to make sure this shiznit will bend.
good idea, go on and do more characters you'll get way faster in time, a nude character like this won't take more the 4 hours because you can always take parts from other characters you've done to be faster...

The limbs look well constructed. The body seems to be lacking a bit, but how can you argue with the one model a day method?
So keep it up then, and give us a close shot of that face, ok?

I've been starting with the body, tomorrow I'll start with the face and see how I go.
Neox I'll start cutting limbs off models when I'm sure they are good to go. For now I'll just scratch build everyting. Tomorrow I might even make some clothes :D
cheers
the body is cool, the face definately not, to stylized and that style is definately not my taste :/
