CGTalk - Expression attribute called attribute?

Anyone know hot to use this attribute "expression.attribute"?

From maya doc:
"Default attribute if no lvalue in expression"

It is string attribute , so i pass string attribute nodeName1.string (nodeName1.string="nodeName2.float") , but expression.output[0] is still zero(nodeName2.float is not zero).
