View Full Version : why does my rendered scene look funny in max?

There is probably a really simple solution to this so I hope someone can tell me off hand. Max views my render very differently in the virtual frame buffer than how it is supposed to actually appear; it's much lighter and washed out. Usually I just do a quick render and then save the file as a jpg, then view it in my browser or photoshop to see how it really turned out, but it is so annoying to keep having to do that. It would be so much quicker if Max just showed it correctly in the virtual frame buffer. I'm sure there's a setting or a video display someth'n or what not...what am I overlooking here?

thanks

Not sure off the top of my head. However take a look in your prefs and see if you have gamma adjust enabled. Not sure if that's just a filter in MAX or if it applies to saved images as well. Been awhile since I've fiddled with it.

FYI, I was having this problem as well, and enable gamma still wasn't working. To fix this all you have to do is copy the Corrected Display Gamma into the Input and Output Fields for Bitmap gamma correction. Silly me didn't make sure all the numbers matched.

Tadaaaaa.
