This image uses a cat and a dove to represent a confrontation between good and evil.

I'm not perfectly happy with this. It seems to lack something, so smack me in the head with your harshest critique (It can't be worse than what I have heard before from my children).

I think it's real cool so far, but there are some things that jump out at me. First it took me a looong time to see the cat.

Second the lighting seams weird, like there are lights all over the place, instead of the main light from the window. The candle sticks in the back have unnaturaly dark shadows coming from a weird angle. I'd get rid of those all together, it's confusing that there would be another light that bright when the daylight is shining in at that angle with such intensity. Also that blue light in the bottom left is I think too strong, and much too blue. I don't really see a reason for it to be there.

I think you should do some more modeling on the benches. Your refrence may look like that, but I don't think there's enough detail. I think some nice carving would make the benches look nicer.

Also you can see the polygons in the bottom right of the window frame (at least that's what it looks like, though that may be intentional)

Thanks for the input.

The blue light was an attempt to light up the back side of the cat a little better while still keeping it in a dark shadowy area. Balancing the desire to keep the cat in shadows, yet making it light enough for those with dark monitors to see it has been a real "bugger-bear".

I agree about the shadows cast by the candles. Way too dark, and rather sharp edged as well. I'll see what I can do about that.

The benches are modeled after the pews in my church. Most pews I have sat in are rather plain and sturdy. I'm not sure about putting engravings or patterns on them. I'll think about it. Possibly a scallopped or carved arm rest could work.

The polygons at the bottom of the window were not intentional. I'm tempted to redo that entire wall, because I am not that satisfied with the texturing job I did on it anyway.

I see what you were trying to do with the blue light, but I think it's over done, way too saturated. I think you can use blueish lights for a night scene, but for a scene like this I don't think it's the right thing to use. All it has me doing is wondering where that dark blue light is coming from and why it's in a church. Looking at the picture again the blue light is the thing the bothers me the most. I really like the plants, those look awsome.

OK,

Here's an update. Lost the blue light, changed the church pew and re-did the lighting slightly:
