Hi, I'm fairly new to 3D modelling. I just started my education in 3D design and animation and I'm planning on working my way into the game industry. We haven't learned anything at school about character modelling yet, but I've been reading and following some tutorials in the past.
This is my first serious attempt at making a full character:

What I want to know is:
- What am I doing right?
- What am I doing wrong?
My method:
I started with a cylinder with 8 sides and extruded the planes following my reference image. I did the head seperately and started with a single plane at the bridge of the nose, then worked my way around the eyes and the mouth and created the face before working on the rest of the head.
Some other questions:
- How acceptable are triangles in game models?
- Where do I have to avoid triangles?
- Where, if any, should I make sure there are triangles?
Hope to get some answers and critique
