My buddy Andrew and I have been workin on a few things. I textured his mech model, then he rigged it, then I put it in one of my WIP environments.

polycounts

mech : 2674
environment : 3000+

He's outta town and doesn't know I'm posting this. I thought it'd be a nice suprise.

So what do you guys think?

Tell him we'd like to see more of his environment.

Okay, here's some wires of both the mech and the environment. And let me be clear about who did what. My friend created the mech and rigged it, and will animate it in some of my environments. I modeled/textured the environment, and I textured the mech also.

Both models contain quads, but the polycounts I listed where the full triangulated values. And I was also vague about my environment (3000+) b/c its still a WIP and most of it did not appear in the render, so techincally I could have deleted so many thousands of polys without affecting the shot at all.

I will post threads in the future concerning only my environments as I'm working on an environmental artist demo reel.

can you make the mech more planar? with more metal flat surfacing, and seeing if your freind can detach some areas so their normals dont smooth out as much.
