I have gone over you sentinal(sp? sorry) tutorial figuring out how to modify it to my own models and your work is out standing. I am glad that there are some great Electric Image users out there(I am a user my self) and I want to see more, and more tutorials! :p If you could post giving tips on the Dvgarage tutorial that would rock! :buttrock:

Fantastic stuff. Great quality to the images, and attention to lighting, mood, and details. Like the way each is broken down and shown in closeup, the ideas and concepts that went in to it, that's always great to see.
Look forward to more in the future!

Thanks another time for all your kind words.
Now I am working in another futuristic car, and after that I hope to have time to make another tutorial.
I want to make a lighting tutorial in the future too. A generic tutorial if possible, independent of software. But the TIME is so short...
Anyway here are some small tips I use:
LIGHTING:
Ever use a lot of lights, with different colors and values.
If I use 1 warm main light, I put 1 or 2 cold ones in the opposite direction.
Use complementary color lights to enhance your escene (like impresionist painters)
(Orange - Purple), (Red - Cyan), (Yellow - Blue), (Magenta - Green)
Use dropoff/attenuation.
Be carefull not to overexpose your scene: use small values.
Use Selection Sets to allow certain lights affect only to certain objects.
Tests, test, and more tests :-)
SHADOWS:
I like to use this small tip:
1. I place one main light <L> WITHOUT shadows.
2. In the same or another location I place another light <S1> WITH shadow and value <+1> (for example)
3. In the exact same location than <S1> I place a third light <S2> WITHOUT shadow and value <-1>
Light <S2> cancel <S1> ligthing, and we obtain only SHADOW.
Light <L> is the unique light, and, the most important: lights and shadows can be INDEPENDENTS.
I can add more strategic only-shadows with different softness (to imitate Global Iluminacion or Radiosity effects) to enhance the scene without increment general lighting.
I don΄t know other softwares apart from ElectricImage Universe (only a bit of Cinema 4D), but with these kind of methods you can achieve great effects, with great control, using Phong renders. I like speed, so I can experiment and do a large number of test renders. I suppose these tips can be translated to another softwares.
Visit this link to see some visual explanations of this concepts:

POSTPRODUCTION:
Finally you can enhance your lighting applying some easy tips in Photoshop or AfterEffects.
Please: visit this link to see this tip:

I hope you find these tips usefull.
Best regards.
