- The speed modelling challenges are open to everybody.
- In every challenge you will get a list of items. Pick one and try to model it as fast as possible. If you want, you can do all of them.
- Do not exceed the time limit of the challenge. If you're out of time and still haven't finished, post the unfinished model.
- If you finish before the time limit, spend the remaining time on refining and adding details to your model.
- Focus on modelling. Shading, lightning and "proper" rendering are optional (and thus not limited by time).
- Take as much time for reference hunting as you need.
- When posting your model make sure you post a wireframe of your model. (try to do more then one view of the model).
- You can do any challenge you want. The challenges are not closed when the SMC passes. If you fancy an older challenge, do that.
- For the concept items you have to create your own designs. If possible post the design images as well.

Items (2h time limit)

- toilet brush,
- walkie-talkie,
- ladybug,
- the "old vw bus",
- bmx bicycle,
- ant,
- nail gun,
- hairdryer,
- skateboard,
- rabbit.

In this SMC we're going to have a new section called "Themed". This will be a short list of items from a time period or style. You have to do your own research and model accordingly.

Theme "Roman empire" (3h time limit)

- shield,
- helmet,
- colosseum,
- footware,
- horse drawn carriage.

There is going to be a dedicated concept thread for concept modelling. I'll probably post it a bit later, so we can start working on it :)

Happy modelling!

MSus, wow this turned out awesome, I'm in the middle of moving things from my apartment so I don't think I will be able to participate this time around.
Will probably be "in communicado" tomorrow from the internet. I think this theme thingy could really be something, especially if one would want to make a collection of models.

I am gonna try to come up with more themes in the future. :)
Keep up everyone.

VW Bus
2 Hours (plus 5 mins to block in wheels, couldn't not have wheels)

I think this will be a good challenge to texture and light as well. Didn't have time to add edge loops so that subsurf would work. I will do that if I texture it.

yey finally got some time. I forgot a wire on the inside of the shield, think it shows in the illustration though...with the handle...
Do think I made the decorative part a little to thick, not entirely sure what the real shields looked like.
Hmm I should watch "Gladiator" again. :)

I can tell it's been a while since I've done this...working on the VW bus and I'm already 90 minutes in. All I have done is the roof.

I'm probably being to persnickety. I'm trying a technique I've not used before, so I'll post at two hours, then finished (there will most certainly be two posts :-P )
