Everyones working on it are under NDA. So you won't have any crunchy details.

Working with it actually and it's damn fast ! :)

It's available as Beta's for now. XSI first and Maya soon (maybe couple months). No plans for 3DS Max for now.

It's a progressive renderer with a unified sampling framework. mental ray also has a progressive renderer but not as advanced yet.

That's basically the public storefront. But I've been talking to the developer.

Thanks for the link but I don't know when it will be back ,Do you have any idea about it's fur support (shave and hair or any other hair ) .
Actually I wanted to test it on furry characters as currently my renders with MR is either taking too much time or crashing it.

Try running the rasterizer for progressive renderer for hair/fur on mental ray.

As for Arnold, the site is a placeholder for later and a wide release I think. It's still being tested for standard integration for now. The places currently using it did their own integration.

yeah I was rendering with rasterize option with rapid fur.
I think my fur count is either too much which is beyond MR limit.
And with 3delight (in free version with 32 bit) you can't go beyond 3million fur that's the only reason I was looking for Arnold as what I saw in the few forums ,it really impresses me.

Avoid raytracing with fur. Which version of Maya are you using?

Use detail shadows instead of raytracing, don't mess with the accuracy settings, etc if you can help it. If you do the hair in a separate pass, lower your shading rate. Also decrease your tiling (bucket) size.

Thanks Bitter ,but unfortunately I already had those settings, now I am thinking of using P_hairTk shader It gives you separate passes too but I think it don't work with renderman.
Thanks again

I have seen some cool test renders from the XSI mailing list, but have not seen anything from the Maya side recently. Are these two plug-ins being developed in parallel or XSI first then Maya?

XSI was done first. Maya is next for testing to my knowledge.
