Hi I want to create 15 nurb spheres along a curve with an S form for instant.
How do i make al those spheres perfectly along an S form??? in max it's very easy... but I don't know howto do it here.

i do this always this way

first make a path anim out of the sphere with the curve. set the time range to a value that fits to your count of copies. ln your case set it from 1 to 15. now go frame by frame and duplicate the sphere. frame 1 duplicate, frame 2 duplicate .... till frame 15

voila. now you can delete the animated one.

normall you do this by taking the animated sweep. but the control of the amount is not as easy as the method above

ahh forgot. switch the follow option in path anim on. so that the sphere aligns to the curve if you need it.

---===edited===---

actually the animated snapshot that normally does that doesn't work on path animated objects. so the way above is ok. would be a cool job for a mel script.

Thanx... that is a pretty clever way indeed.. :) Why didn't I think of that hehe :D Once again u helped me out thanx alot!

anyway... it's indeed very good for a script!!! First select the geometry then the path en push the button :) (and set the amound of copy's.

ok, if you're a bit familiar why not try. even if you don't try it. mel is the real power of maya and really worth to learn. i would help you this.

I'm not that good with programming... that would take me a lot of work.. sorry :( :hmm:

I bet there are a lot of diehards who can do this.

emm..

wasn´t there a function in maya called animated snapshot that can do that?

i think that one should create duplicates by itself .. even with history if you want to change the curve later..

cheers

you're right. snapshot does the job :(

first time it gave me an error message. now it works.

this is just another time, that later the day the more of the stuff is working out correctly.

is different for me.. the later the day the less stuff works and the more i wish i would be a beer :)

Ok this is cool!!! I looked in to the help for snapshot... and it works.... :)

BuT!!!! It doesn't work when u already have a motion path assigned for your geometry :(. Anyone knows howto fix this??? because I wanto create a neckless ehhhh the thingie u wear around your neck.
With those things... they are not standard geometry. And have to follow a path... and I need 800 !! of them... so the first trick is very timeconsuming...

I need that snapshot to work on my curve.... any ideas???? Thnx alot!!!!!!!

Maybe u can give me a example of how it works???

so this one works for me:

- create the curve
- create a sphere
- select sphere, curve
- attach to path
- set keyframe for first frame and end frame
- do: create animated snapshot
- enter the values
- there you go..
