Go get 'em Ciderheads, Mesharray makes Jenna2 complete, and for me, a rockin' set of plugs.

Congratulations darf! Must be quite a relief...

Anyone tried the TP particles already? I hope the example scenes /manual are also finsihed soon, bacause I can't get it to work. I must be doing something wrong. It looks real nice though.
Also the manual now availlable says there should be a spine mode available to make a spline between all objects. I can't find thatone either. I guess it is removed from 2.1.

Howdy!

The TP functionality is in ITERATOR and GRIDARRAY as they were the testbeds for this. Unfortunately we found there were some issues in the TP SDK ( basically, there wasn't enough info at the time to make it work the way we wanted ). Since the TP functions allow ITERATOR and GRIDARRAY to do some funky things with LOCO some of our users wanted us to maintain this functionality. Refining LOCO centers around TP and Xpresso. This should give us an opportunity to refine this functionality and truly make it work well. ITERATOR is the only tool that allows a 'spine' to be created from the iterated positions. Currently a child object is required. That will be removed in a maintenance update.

Best Regards,
darf - cidertank

Thanks for the info. From what I have seen so far it is a great plugin. I am getting curious about loco though (and it's connectivity with jenna).
And sorry about the spine question. Obviously, I didn't read the manual well enough :)

Howdy!

LOCO is a set of tools focussed on particle effects and Xpresso functionality. While JENNA focussed on certain types of tools LOCO was written while working on real world motion graphics projects requiring extensive particle and limited focus dynamics. There is alot in there and it isn't rehashing what others have done. The main focus of LOCO is to refine tools created in a production workflow that have a very refined, distinct functionality that is simple and easy to use. The best set of tools I have ever worked on.

LOL! Never be concerned about asking questions about cidertank tools ( we enjoy answering those questions ). It's the "MAXON told me you could give me an SLA 2 serial number" email fifty times a day that gets us a little moody. Thanks MAXON Germany! :argh:

I doubt whether Maxon really told them. I sold my SLA2.1 and, even in the days I bought it (the SLA2 cd came from Maxon themselves, not from Bhodinut: I downloaded 2.1 from B.), the serial came from Maxon.
They generated the serials that go with Cinema, and I suppose they still do if people come with an original SLA serial (that hasn't been used before. if you understand what I mean).
So really: I don't think they're to blame.

BTW: thanks for adding so much new things to Jenna.

Howdy!

Glad the JENNA update was good for you.

In respect to the MAXON Germany / SLA issue: They did, there was no public retraction which is what we asked for, and this has been a problem for years. Everybody has problems at some level ( we have seen our share ), but this continues to be a problem where it shouldn't. I gave them over a week to resolve this somehow ( given that this has gone on for years ), and they didn't that we know of. Since we could be legally liable for releasing licenses this continues a grand tradition of their making things harder than they need to be. OK, I have no intent on continuing this. They poked us again, whatever, nothing new.

can you please give my a summary of what each of these tools does?

1)gridarray
2)mesharray
3)allie
as the manual seems to miss them out?
thanks:beer:

We are working on the manuals, example files, website content, and forums today ( easier when the code is complete ).

GRIDARRAY takes a source hierarchy and creates a grid of instances ( or whatever you choose through the construction parameter ). Pretty simple but very useful for architecture with it's alignment features.

ALLIE is very similiar to GRIDARRAY except that it supports texture channel parameter control ( use textures to define source hierarchy selection, offset, scale, rotation, and light color control ). Utilizing thejTAG and jSHADER instances created can be shaded using the color samples from the ALLIE texture evaluation ( cool for things like changing the color of flowers to the shape of a logo and possibly ). It was inspired by PaintAlchemy ( a Xaos tools PS plugin from years past ).

MESHARRAY creates instances on the surface of a mesh our along a spline. Supports texture channels as ALLIE does. Several alignment features and supports full textures with sticktexture support.

OK. Sorry David that me too I poked in this...I thought that some new users tried to get a working code from you instead of contacting Maxon. Thanks for pointing out I was wrong.

darf,

I have MESHARRAY demo working with Vertice, Texture, Parameter, and Variation, but can't seem to get Edge and Polygon to work.

Should these two work in the demo?

(R8.207 on Mac 10.2)

TIA.

Checking now... Seems to work fine.

Are you using three source hierarchies?

There should be the following hierarchy base -

MESHARRAY
Source Mesh Hierarchy
Vertice Hierarchy Source
Edge Hierarchy Source
Polygon Hierarchy Source

uberNULLs with the deformed state of off can be directly under the MESHARRAY parent to hold textures and will not be evaluated. So it could be:

MESHARRAY
uberNULL ( turned off ) with textures
Source Mesh Hierarchy
Vertice Hierarchy Source
Edge Hierarchy Source
Polygon Hierarchy Source

Send the file you think is wrong with annotated screen shot to bugs@cidertank.com.

darf - cidertank

Is this plug-in still available? If so, where can I get it?

Thanks!

Hey, BTW, how is your G5 Quad and Cinema 4d? Does it see it as 4 processors?

am i missing something?

Only that this thread is really old :) Threw me off too. Oldies always throw me off for a second.
