I recently had a problem with hackers and they screwed up my whole computer. I tried to do a format and wipe the whole drive out but all I was successful on doing was creating a partition.

So I was wondering how I could go about getting rid of it and doing a successful format. Im using windows 2000 by the way.

Oh yeah this is what I did that brought this problem up. I followed these instructions online and they were most likely wrong.

I inserted the windows 2000 cd clicked new clean install. Then it rebooted the comp and brought me to the recovery console(I belive thats what its called) I cant remember what I did exactly cause this was awhile ago so bear with me. I type map. then

FORMAT c: /q /FS:NTFS

Then I did the part of hitting yes and it said it was doing the format but all it did was install a new windows.

Don't bother with the options in the win2k-CD window that pops up when you insert the CD. Just close the window, and restart the PC so you boot off of the CD-ROM.

Whe the PC boots off of the CD you get to a point where it asks you if you want to repair the instalation. Skip the repair (I think by esc). Somewhere in the next steps, you will ge tot a point where the install program will show you your hard disks and any partitions on the disks.

delete all of the partitions (hitting D) and create the new partitions that you want (hitting C). By default, Windows will name the first partition you make "C:". From there just highlight the partition you want to install windows on and hit enter.
