Hi,

Rendering with MR I have a fluid emitter mimicking a candle flame. the candel and flame are in a glass container (mia material glass). The top of the flame protrudes above the glass candle holder. I am not able to see the flame through glass sides of the holder but can see where it peaks above. I've enabled refractions and reflections in the fluid and my refractions level is set quite high in my global renders. Help! this project is at a standstill 'till I solve this.

Hi!

The answer is to turn on 'Auto Volume' in the Render Settings on the Features tab!

Seems a bit silly actually. Auto Volume allows mental ray to automatically set things up to work with volume shaders.

Ah ha! Thanks. I would have never figured it out.

Problem is solved after all. You must have visible in reflections and refraction enabled (off by default) and auto volume checked in the render freatures tab.

If you are using Maya 2010 and above, you probably don't need Auto Volume on for very many things.
