Hi, I have finally finished my first character model and I'm trying to texture it. I have seperated the polys of its different body parts with their own id. Now I'm add a uvw map modifier to each id but its taking forever to load each step. I have got nurms on with 3 iterations.

My question is, would my mapping cooirdinates still be correct if i set the display nurms to 1 and the render nurms to 3 to speed up max. So when i apply the uvw map modifier, does it go on the render nurms setting or the display?
Sorry if this is a basic question.
Thanks :)

take the nurms off entirely, and uvwmap the model without any nurms applied at all

and then after its textured apply the nurms

having the nurms on at any level while texturing is only slowing you down

you can put it on at a higher level on the stack to do test renderings and that kind of stuff, but you should texture the mesh that effectively has no nurms on it whatsoever

the nurms smoothing should be reserved for rendering

Cool, thanks Credmond. Much faster :)
