Is it still practical/useful using ChilliSkinner (http://www.chilliweb.co.uk/chilliskinner/Download.htm) nowadays with the new UVs Editing tools in the Unwrap UVW modifier in 3DSmax5?

thanks,

What version of Max are you using?
I wonder if it'd work on 5.

Im using 5. and chilliskinner works fine. except I get a render problem sometimes where part of the faces that are facing the camera are invisible.

It sounds like all you got to do is flip the normals. If you created those faces yourself chances are you created them following the oposite sense, I mean to say, at least when you create a polygon and go clockwise it'll make it facing out, and if you go on the other direction it'll make it facing in. Or viceversa, I can never remember ;)

The new UVW tools in Max 5 look to be
really good. I think they're the equal
of chilliskinner, or better, but I have
only just read how to use them one
day ago.

You can choose not to believe since I had Chilliskinner but never warmed up to it, but if you're using max 5, download Chuggnut's UV Tools. You get a lot of cool features already built in to max but for some reason don't show up on the UI. (align tools, relax, etc.) And the best part is, it integrates directyl into the UVW Unwrap interface. no addons. I got it, and my productivity skyrocketed.

Hunt it down at www.chuggnut.com

I never tried the uv tools. Just the
chilliskinner script for skinning.
I'll look again.
