hey all, I've been working on this for a few hours this evening, I'm pretty happy with the way it's turned out so I thought I'd post it. :) it's meant to be a more sinister elf weapon.

It looks nice but there are some things I don't like.
The hilt of the sword is too small and the point is
not pointed enough IMO. I think the little skull needs
more detail. The materials are really nice.

cheers, Bob

those are sweet squid!!!
I love how you add the most detail and make things all your own, I wouldnt change a thing!
Now lets see the sinister elf!! :D

by the way whats IMO mean?

modest mouse it means in my opinion, imho means in my humble opinion.

Looks like it needs sharpening and looks like the handle should be longer looking at how thick it is.

Anyway nice work (as usual) keepit up, I wanna see this thing perfect.

actually i think an elvish sword would curve on the end this actually to me looks more like a giant furry ogres sword, correct me if im wrong

yup good points :)

I just had a look at some sword references and this definately needs to be pointier, not sure about modifying the head though, it's supposed to be a cast metal monster head not a skull

only thing I find wrong with the skulls is that they seem kinda cartoonish.

Nothing wrong with that mind you but its not to scary or deathly looking. If I were an orc, I would not be scared by those skulls. Thats my basic point made by mentioning that.

Very nice, great materials...!

What did you use for a background, I absolutely love that grainy kind of look.

Alltogether cool stuff...!

Completely agree with the hilt being longer and the point being more pointy. Very cool overall...not in the sword EDIT:but it is VERY cool END EDIT nessesarily but in the presentation...bravo. I recently made some PVC pipe swords for my boys and the hilts were WAY too short...this one needs to be longer. Conan would be a proud govenor ;)

This is beautiful. How did you make the twigs?

Didn't know that you have an interest on such things
- no robots at all :)

cheers bob :)

the plant parts are made using a sweep nurbs objects with a circle and and a spline, I then set the scaling on the sweep nurbs to 0% to get it shrink towards the end, the leaves are just slightly modified boxes in hypernurbs

Rather interesting looking game Squid.

Wasn't too sure about the blade in the first render, but I love the logo.

these are a few of the others, they're meant as simple character logos for different species that are in the game

You are a diligent bee Squid :)
I like especially the one with the big axe and the top-left one.
Can we have a bigger image please?

I like the hilt but I think that the blade is too thick. It looks more like the weapon is for bludgeoning than slicing. Also, there's a seam at the tip of the blade.

there's a seam at the tip of the blade

lol, dammit, hadn't spotted that, well it's pretty late here I think I'll fix that tomorrow :D

Nice work Squid

The skull/monster - the problem is the jaw hangs to low I think and it makes the head look monkey like.If you moved the jaw up a bit and scaled the eye sockets in a bit I think you would have a reinvigorated monster jmo :)

yea, its not too orcish. If I think about it the orcs in LOTR had long skulls with protruding jaws, the jaws went forward and not up. leangthen it forward. and not widthwise.

down = monkey like

forward = scary

also a hard jawline usually typifies a more manly aggressive look.

The new hilt makes a big difference IMO, very nice. I would
make the blade still more pointed.

Hate to say this but that blade still looks a bit like moulded plastic to me, sort of too soft edged and rounded, it just doesn't look sharp IMO.

The hilt is looking beter, although I would agree with kiwi's remarks over that skull emblem.

cheers, Bri
