View Full Version : Frischluft and reelsmart motion blur nuke equivalents ?

Hi all

Having recently transitioned from old school rpf with max and mental ray, to vray and nuke, I am trying to get a good pipeline together for my post MB and DOF.

Previously I had great results with frischluft lens care and rsmb and the result were easily as good as mental rays in some cases ( probably better is a lot)

Anyway, I know you can get rsmb for nuke but you cannot get frischluft so I'm hoping you guys can point me in the direction of some good alternatives.


Oh and finally, if there are any good methods of creating fog in post, I know about just adding zdepth but maybe if there was a way to control the height to create ground fog with the position pass ?

Sorry for the multiple question post.

zblur for DOF
you'll have to grade the Z-depth pass in order to remap the Black and White.

VectorBlur for MB

MB is a bit tricky, read this

Thanks for the replies guys.

I tried out the zblur and vector blur but so far I dont really rate the quality of these vs what I can achieve with an rpf from 3dmax and combustion with frischluft and reelsmart.

I got the frischluft for nuke, thanks for the link, but have struggled to get it working and there inst much documentation. If anyone could send an example comp with it working it would be a great help.

I have also read that vray vector passes dont really work with rsmb as they use a different algorithm so Im unsure what the best alternative is for this.

Have you tried just using the regular scanline velocity render element with RSMB? That's what we do and it works great.

Frischluft DoF works fine for me. Great plug-in. Not sure what you couldn't get working but the workflow's pretty straightforward.
