Hey all,

I'm new here, so I apologize in advance if I'm asking ridiculous n00b questions.

After graduating high school I spent a few years learning filmmaking at different institutions here in Vancouver Canada. I've been working in the film industry for the past couple years as well as making a my own films with my martial arts/film stunts crew. I have a good understanding of cinematic storytelling / camera / composition / lighting / etc from a filmmakers point of view, and would like to take these skills into 3d animation.

I have no experience in animation, and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I'm planning to take some part time courses in Maya at a local arts school and learn as much as I can from home through online tutorials. After gaining a grasp of Maya, my next goal (please let me know how feasible this is) is to research budget motion capture, and then combine my stunt teams' skills in martial arts and acrobatics into animated shorts. (http://www.hybridmovement.com if anyone is interested in seeing our live action stuff)

Again, I'd like to stress how little i know about this industry, so maybe a lot of my plans are wishful thinking, but I was wondering if there are template packs out there (environments, objects, textures, effects, etc) that I could use in conjunction with the other things I talked about (think machinima mixed with motion capture)....
