I am sorry for those who have put time in to TOTM but I am tired of people saying they will help and do jack shit. TOTM is OFFICIALY canceled. NeoSpawn as well is no more. I talked this over with Lymrei and we both agreed that TOTM is falling faster and faster and Fincialy I cant do anything to support NeoSpawn or TOTM. I am sorry. I thank all that helped me. Those who stayed and gave time out of there lifes to help. I am sorry though that our goal was not ment.

Hey doode, I love that your ambitious, and I myself want to make my own game someday, but your idea for your game has been used many times, i swear. Try to come up with something thats just crazy original, and will make ladies throw their panties at you, u know? I've played several psx rpg's where you begin the game with your village on fire, and crazy monsters running around. I just want to see you succeed, if I didnt, I wouldnt have told u these things :). I hope all goes well for you with your project.

Keiyentai: What language are you planning on writing the game in?
I have a bit of Visual Basic experience and just picked up VB.NET this year when I started using TrueVision3D.
I don't have a whole lot of time to devote right now (I'm a stay-at-home dad while my wife works), but I might be interested to help out as much as I can. I've dreamed of making my own RPG since 7th grade (I'm 25 now), but haven't had the time or resources to complete my dream... I'm more of a programmer and not an artist. I'd be interested to hear more about your project.

Right now it's visual C++ but VB could probaly be fitted in for somethings :D plus I know what it's like being a full time dady. My son just turned 1 monday so I know how it is lol

Anyway, FYI the TrueVision3D engine is lightning fast, even if the game is programmed in VB. They are mainly focused on supporting that language, but C++, Delphi, and the .NET languages are also supported. I don't know much C++ at all but am still open if you're looking for VB.NET programmers.

I talked to my programer and he said if you know VB6 thats good and we can compile it and before we make the beta or what ever convert it in to C++. So as long as you know VB 6 or use it it's all good :D

He is the opening of the story. CHeck it out see if you like. We have source code working now and a couple other cool things with the engine. WHat I have in the text file is what I want CG cutScenes. There will be game play in between it. This is all I am going to reveal story wise now for NON Employee's lol. Soon we will have some pics to post I promise :D

We are having a couple problems with the TV6 Engine and It's Dynamic lighting feature. If this keeps proceeding we might go back the Crystal Space Engine though it is unconfirmed. I am sorry for any delays in details on the game. Plus the story is being worked on more and might be merged with another. Thank for all who are helping and are interested in helping. In the net day or two I am going to post what we have and what we still need. Once again thank you all for the support that has been given for this project :) MOre to come soon!

Textures are from the textures used in the game Engine. 2 Point Lights no ambiant and Medium Enhanced AA with RayTrace Shadows and SoftFilter. Gibs where found online as a reference to add effect. THey may or may not appears in the game.
Tell me what you think. All LightWave no post. Oh as for the dark box on the right hand side under the torso I dont know what s causing it if any one can figure it out shout.

Ok. I noticed that on a few monitors besides mine the dungeon pic is REALLY dark. Iwill fix this. ANother thing is like 3 people where help have just upped and vanished......THANKS ALOT! So now I dont know where the game will be going. We need concept artists!!! :banghead: I am starting to get anoyed too. I really want this project to go some where. What happened to my help? Huh?

Hey I'm sorry to see your helps gone. It's happened to me before too and it's more than a bit frustrating when it grinds your production to a halt.
Here are a few hints for keeping people, I don't profess to be an expert in the area of team management, but I think the following may help you:
1) Set up a website
2) set up forums and plan everything in the forums from then on
3) Update the news on the website regularily, once a week is a bare minimum.
4) Ask people to tell you when they will be absent (after all they may just have gone on vacation)
5) Get to know the people, make them friends as well as collaborators.
6) Make sure everyone is treated with respect.
7) Make sure that once completed or near completion the artist/recordist/modeller gives you a copy of material. It limits damage if you have at least something.
8) Don't make too many changes to your overall plan, people may have joined on the basis they wanted to do something which has now turned into something very different.
9) Keep contact up. As a leader you have to make extra effort to contact your team members, get their e-mail addresses as a minimum (personally I prefer to have peoples mobile numbers).
I hope that can be of some help, it's certainly helped me. Maybe someone can add to this?

Hey Benork. Thanks for the info man. I'm working out webspace right now at the moment and I have tryed to keep the overall idea ofthe game the same. CHaning minor things. As far as I know I have been nice to everyone helping and have added everyone to MSN. I'm trying to pitch in as muchs as I can too. I have a few concepts made up but I need a scanner or the time to go to the copy shop and get them put on Floppy. As far as the "Vanished" people they come online on MSN but NEVER reply when I IM them and there not in Away statud or anything....owell. Hopefully the website will be up soon. OK I know that this porject has seemed to go poof but it hasent. Ilusha and I are working on Testu alot and I am trying to get a hold of everyone else. THings like the story are still be tweaked out. I'm sorry that this is getting slow. When I can get ahold of my frined with websapce I will have some renders of Testu up and if he has enough space a Face animation. Ok after some serious thought and about 5 hours of PLaying Dungeon Siege I decided NOT to put Tale of a Thousand Moons on hold. I am going to be working on the story more and make it not so "You killed my family now you die!" play as one charator type game, though not make it so it's complty different than origanly stated. We will still be using the same engine. Though now we need newprogramers since ours left for reasons unknonw I have not heard from him in over a month. I am sorry for the delay but Testu is Practicaly done and a new charator is in the make :) hehehe :bounce: Tale of a Thousand Moons is BACK ON TRACK!

hey i got my friends burner! now i can transfer stuff to my computer to the internet heheheh...so eh uh...i can setup webspace+website+forum...then i can do modeling and character concepts...and since ive been programming again, i will help on that when the time comes. i dont know what 3d engine youre using now so i dont know about that, but i know i can do gui, AI, scripting, and misc things. alright man, you know my AIM.

id like to say that the conduct of this [project is going well, and that im really interested in a pretty large "team collaboration" i seee the way you project has expanded and i can bring alot of workforce to this project, but sadly there are conditions, i dont want it to look like im sasying you neeed me, because claerly u dont, but i think us working together could bring a better and bigger game but we arent exactly thinking on the same page,
i do a bit of game design, and i write stories, like really long stories and proper design documents, i also do some 3d work and i have a concept artist who works for me , and i have 146 weapons sketched. and i should get the guy to do 100 animals by the 20th of december (he is working on it). i have a landscape modeller that could join as well.i have a samall pasion for music so i have some soundtracks and some other music to add.
I also have two c++ programmers as well, working on our engine.
now here are the problems
1> the programmers are building our own engine the ire code can be found at

go there and select lrlib to downlaod the ire code. so we,d have to use that engine :hmm:
2.> we are building an mmorpg, not an rpg, and our game is 3rd person, if we tackle this the right way, we can still follow the story you have
3.> we have a different story, but this is a small problem if we keep it an mmorpg, as mmorpg games can have many stories :)
you can keeep you name and keep all the pstufff you hav already made up, so if you wish to collaborate we called be aiming for a big thing here, the projects size could be doubled, but its you decision

I am verry interested in this. Very much so. Where the story is there is no doubt we could incorprate it in to what you guys have. It would be cool to be working on a MMOPRPG. What format does your engine take for model? .3DS and so on cuase everyone that is helping basicly uses LightWave but if need be we can export to .3ds if your guys engine only supports that. Do you have any screenshots of your engine? I saw that you added me your MSN and I added you. I hope to hear from you soon man. This is really interesting. I wanted to have Tales of a Thousand Moons a MMORPG though when I first started out using the TV6 Engine I was told that ven asking such a thing would be rediculus. Thats for the cool Idea man.

aww crap...You forgot to tell them that nonmembers of the Dev team DIDNT have to sign up...crappp..ive been accepting account activations lol..oh well, well get that settled soon. I will need the current list of people who are seriously part of the team and their emails to confirm them on the users list and remove the ones not part of the dev. We gotta organize this and close down the invitations and get started. Once we have a base, then well get more help, for now, I figure we have enough. We dont want it to get too big yet. Not until were organized and stable at least.

Hello. We have grwon alot since the project started. I would like to thank those who supported us. Now on to bussiness
We are looking for 2-3 good texture artists who can give time in to the game. No ok I will work a bit then leave. We need devoted people willing to work to the end. We have 40+ concepts ready for modeling. We have about 5 char models and about 12 weapon models finished. We have an engine that is being worked on by 5 programers. We have music and sound talent now too. SO this is no longer a little project it is grwoing.

From what I can see your going for the medieval fantasy type mmorpg, which is okay but there is too many of them and they seem to all lack innovation and have shoddy gameplay, lame chat system and lack of depth. Theres a new mmorpg call dragon empire, which seems to show that it will follow all the above to a certain degree. I'm not trying to say anything which is against what your doing but try to make the way it looks, plays and feels. More original than the common mmorpg.:thumbsup:

I see where you are going. While I am trying to keep it Fantasy oriented it's not just another MidEvil type. WHile it will have some "medevil" influences where not going to base it all on that. We are going to have new idea's and inovations (cant spell :S lol) in the game that the Dev team and I have yet to see in MMORPGS. We want to make the game fun and break the bonds of the traditional "hack and slash run around and look for 1 item for 8 hours" gameplay lol. Also the chat system will be worked on alot, I share your feeling on the shotty chat system...
Thank you for the possitive crit man. It's good to see it. The Dev team and I apreciate seeing people interested in this game :)

Awesome I really like your DemoReel. If you want we could sqeeze a modeler in. Have alot though I like your skills. You use Flash? DO you think you could possibly pitch in with the website design? Where reduing it. If you oculd that would rule. More MMORPG stories are being done as well. Having to change somethigns sence it has changed from SP to MMORPG.

Thank you for all of the people who have supported TOTM and offered to help. I would like to announce we have 24 people including me working on Tale of a Thousand Moons. We now have plenty of help. Thank you all of those who are offering help right now. We are completly reduing our website and our forum will soon have more Public access. CUrrently it is primarly Dev team only but I will be adding more public sections soon :)
I also want to thank CGTalk for a place to ask for help I wouldent have been able to find so much support and help with out CGTalk. :buttrock: Tale of a Thousand Moons is going well. ALot has happened and we hope to release a Full Retail MMORPG for PC. Having unique features that have yet to be seen in a MMORPG. Thank you everyone :bowdown:

We also need animators who use 3D Studio Max or MilkShape 3D. Until we make a script for other apps 3DSM and MS are the only two apps that Ogre will use for Animation.
