Okay, so this is sticking my nose where I don't belong, but I got to watch over the shoulders of three of the best photoshop artists I ever seen, so I'll give it a crack.

First off, wow! That concept sketch really gives a context, not just in composition, but a context of time. There is this great sense of subtle locomotion and a feel for the center of gravity on the move. I'd mebbe lock the left thigh a bit more, to give it just a bit more of a sense of lazy strolling, mebbe drag the left toes (less of a bend at the ball - or not). I also dig the vagueness of the muscles as if that visual detail takes a back seat to their actual job.

Carefull on the photoshop part. Not that I know from personal experience (I was always a bezier Illustrator guy), but my gut is telling me your creative process is getting a little lost in the details (which are pretty fly, btw). But they don't seem to "fit" together quite as well as the concept sketch suggests.

Again, please take this critique knowing that my talent with the brush is generally limited the good ole days of Liquid Paper.

thanx man ill take anything i can get, first time ive tried painting with photoshop. im thinking of starting over in paintshop becuase i believe they have brushes and palette knifes thinbgs like that. not sure if anyone has a recommendation on which to go with ill take it.

i think my over all goal is to get that fantasy illustration look like frazetta or the like. i know its been done to death but since this is just fun i dont care its more for the practice of enjoyment than trying to find my own painterly style.

OMG! How friggin weird! I gotta show you my one attempt at a Frank Frazetta homage.

I posed the "Frazetta Fighter" and the "dragon" (heh, did a lot of 2D "cheats" to get that angle - wouldn't work in realtime. The craft and environment artists composited the entire thing for release.
