I convert my large textures to .map format. If I have large HDRI image for indirect lighting then do I need to convert them to .map format too? If I do convert to .map format then will it still do the indirect lighting part the way HDRI images are supposed to?

Additionally is there a plug in or something to save .map files directly from Photoshop? Currently I am using imf_disp.exe short cut from my desktop.

Here is utility for save *.map from photoshop (http://www.mymentalray.com/index.php?option=com_shaders&Itemid=115&Action=DisplayDetail&ObjectId=24).
Everythig wil work fine with your lighting- its just another image file format.

I'm not sure if you know that Maya has a built in function that will convert all your texture to map
its under the pref window.
