View Full Version : smooth uv's
Leionaaad 08-02-2010, 09:38 AM How can I have smooth uv's option? I do a very low poly cage, I make the Uv's then i subdivide the mesh using D key. The UV's have straight borders , they don't change a bit, yet when I use Tab bor subD, the UV's are curved. where do i set the UV's to have basically the same curve, like in subdivision?

Each mesh item has an option at the bottom for "Linear UVs" but I think it's a one-way street. I don't think you can smooth UVs that aren't subDs in modo. Could be wrong...

I could be wrong, but I don't think that this is possible. You can apply the UV Relax function after you hit sds subdivide. Not optimal obviously.
If its indeed possible to smooth UVs automatically in conjunction with sds subdivide I'd sure like to know about it.

yeah, well, the linear uv's uses straight uv edges, the uv's basically remain the same as you layed out the lowres mesh. it's ok as well, still I kinda miss this feature, as in mental ray subdivision aproximation is done like is the default in modo: curved lines in the uv layout.

Instead of subdividing the mesh, you could freeze it ( geometry > freeze )
