View Full Version : 2010 Animation Reel
saxifridge 08-02-2010, 05:28 AM Hey all. I just wanted to take a minute to share my 2010 Animation Reel. These are all shots from my work at Blur Studios (www.blur.com) where I am a character animator. I feel super blessed to be able to work with such talented artists. Hope you dig it!

Thanks for all the kind words everyone!
isosmrt: Blur is really awesome, get to work on a lot of fun projects with really great people.
aknight4u2001: Animation is done in Autodesk XSI. If I get some time to put a breakdown together I will post it up!
Lambchopo: DUDE! How you digging WETA?
nakimushi: It's a combination of both motion capture and key frame depending on the project. If it is not human, or some sort of crazy stunt it is key framed. The Dante's stuff was heavily key framed, the make out scene was entirely key frame.

One of the best overall reels I've seen here for a while.
That making out scene looks very accomplished!
Some of you guys have awesome careers (and talents of course :D).

Very good physics !
Music and editing are great.
Also, I feel that the facial and lipsynch are a bit under compared to the high level of your body animation. Maybe you could work a bit more on this part.
Anyway, very good stuff here.

Thanks for the comments Zoo-Prod! Yea, facial is definitely an area I am working hard to make strides in. the past couple of projects I have made sure to take some more facial heavy shots so I can get more experience under my belt and get better. Onward and upward!

There are some really great scenes in here. I'd be interested to see if anything was mo-capped, or if it was all done by hand. Either way, phenomenal work.
I'm actually currently looking at studios that might be willing to offer internships sometime during this coming March through September. I'll certainly be sending Blur my information, although are you aware if they ever accept interns?
Again, great job.
