I recently purchased a radeon 9800 pro on pricewatch and was shipped the Radeon 9800 NON PRO. I am currently in the process of disputing the order and hope to get a refund. I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem due to how similar the 2 cards look. I will be posting the name of the company that sent me the card soon if I do not receive a refund.:hmm:

What I do on pricewatch is not buy the lowest priced card I see. I buy the lowest price card from a reseller that I can trust.

But this wasn't always the case. I ordered a fx 5600, gold edition or special or something along those lines. From the cheapest person I found on pricewatch. And when they shipped it, it wasn't the right card. I said to heck with it and installed it anyways, next thing i know is my computer gets smoke....

But life goes on.

Yeah, I agree that you shouldnt purchase from the lowest priced vendor on pricewatch. I use pricewatch at least 3-4 times a month and I havent ever had anyone send me the wrong part... at least not intentionally. I purchased this card from the vendor that I thought looked most legit. The description said "ati radeon 9800 PRO. This is the red card 9800 PRO manufactured by ATI NOT a cheap imitation." My reciept even said 9800 pro. It angers me because I can buy the 9800 NON PRO for 120.00$ less than what I spent on this card.:annoyed:

You should report them to the pricewatch.com , www.bbbonline.com and slam them on epionions.com as well.

I buy alot off pricewatch as well and have never been burned but I check their return policies and shipping costs first and I prefer to actually place the order on the phone or at least make sure that they answer the phone.

Thanks for the suggestions. I didnt think to report them to pricewatch. I definitely will if I dont get a refund in the next couple of days.

I'd rather spend a little more and be confident in what I'm getting. I use Newegg prett much exclusively. All of their products actually have pictures of everything that is included.

That helps alot also. Thanks for the info. I still have not heard from the company that sent me the card. I am on my 4th email and I have called 10+ times. Time is running out before I start flaming them.

I hope you get your problems solved. I use pricewatch alot too, but have a few resellers I continue to use now cause I trust them. My favorite is newegg.com.

They might cost a little more but they have a good reputation.

I dunno.. everytime I went there to try to buy something they don't have what I'm looking for. I guess they are okay if you mainly need gaming or single proc systems otherwise their selection for MP and dual systems is weak. Plus their website design gives me a headache :banghead: Also since they are in California I'd ahve to pay sales tax which I usually try to avoid especially on big ticket items.

y'know, it's funny. They used to have great selection for Mp systems, but as soon as I was ready to buy, they stopped carrying dual workstation/desktop boards entirely!:surprised

Update: I recieved my Bzboys items and they look OK, but I also recieved half of my NewEgg order TODAY, and it was scheduled for delivery tomorrow! I only just ordered it Friday morning. That ROCKS!!! :)

I recently made a purchase from Bzboys.com.

They have some pretty good prices, and seemed to have decent reviews (they scored higher on eopinions than Compugeeks, who I have ordered from many times with no problem) so I went to place my order.

No secure padlock icon appeared on the order form of the site, even though their FAQ claimed their site has 128 bit security. They had an option for contacting me for my CC info, and I selected that.

So the rep calls me. He asked for my name, then when I said "speaking", he said in a thick foreign accent "I am from BZboys.com, give me your credit card number".

Now, with all the credit card scams going on from other countries, I was kind of leery, so I asked for details of my order, which he gave me. So I gave my info, and he confirmed the total and stuff like that, then launched into a spiel trying to sell me this "upgrade" and that "upgrade". Which I can't say I appreciated. Just send me what I ordered...

Then my order spent 2 days in limbo, so they could "verify" my information to ensure there was no credit fraud. Hey, that's great- but you're still "verifying" the info 2 days after my card was billed? (yes, it was on my online statement already).

I got a tracking number, and haven't recieved my merchandise yet. I have to say, that they seem like a nice business from their site, but what a mickey mouse operation when it comes to ordering.

Newegg on the other hand, I placed an order at 9 am via their website, got the padlock icon, and it shipped the same day. I will get it the day after I get my Bzboys order, which I had placed 4 days prior, both shipping via FedEx 2 Day from California.

New egg, I will definetly buy from again. Bzboys, I can't say. Maybe if they get their act together.
