View Full Version : Character: Mul - no toes
Think I picked the wrong forum (3d wip) for my post so have reposted here for some C&C.
I originally planned on creating a Mul gladiator. A Mul being a human/dwarf crossbreed from the darksun roleplaying game. They tend to be fairly well muscled and are completley hairless - got out of the hair problem . ;)
However I may change the final use of the character once I've finished.
Open for crits.

Hello,
If you are going for a crossbreed, I don't believe that will be apparent until you make some defining characteristics of the model, to make him stand out from a humanoid figure.
As is, the modeling looks like a great start, keyword is "start", there isn't enough to crit or judge really, until you have those distinctive elements that defines your model as a "character".
I would suggest you pick what you are going for (crossbreed/dwarf/human) and then start adding those defining characteristics that make them stand out. Add more and repost, I would like to see what this developes into.
PS- the pec to shoulder area seems to blend too much and may need some more defining...? Again, not sure what a "Mul" looks like, sorry.

I think you are going the right way El-d, the anatomy is on its most very realistic, the only things I dont like that mutch are the fingers, they loo too small comparing to the rest of the body, and the chest, the way is pectoral muscles join with the arms, it looks like there is no separation between the arm muscles and the chest muscles.
The head look quite good to me, maybe a bit more wrinkles and "character" are needed but the average proportions look correct.
Thanks for the responses.
The mul race has taken the best(?) from both races in that they are fairly tall and agile whilst retaining the muscular stature of the dwarves. In effect they look pretty much like well built humans. I didn't have any reference images(of mul) so went for a well built human.
The stage I am at is in ensuring that the overall muscle/proportions etc are correct before I do a final stitch to weld the two halfs together. Once this is done, I will be adding some details/making asymmetrical etc to bring character to the model.
The pectorals do seem to flow into the arms.....hmm I tried to get the correct edge looping and flow but seem to have lost definition for the upper arm/shoulder muscle. I'll take another look at that.
The fingers do look small on some images due to the angle but are in proportion to the hand....I think you may be correct though in a round about way and that its the whole hand that's too small. I'll try scaling the whole hand to see if that helps.
Thanks again for the comments and I'll try to get some updates out soon (when I get the time :annoyed: ).
