Excellent Work, I have nothing more to say :applause:

Maybe the mouth could still be imrpoved, it looks so clean compared to the rest.

I wonder how long it takes until this is on the front page :-)

Hi,

Great work! I really like those eyes - could you talk a little about the "technicals" (software used, modelling, etc)?

I used MAYA for modeling and Mental ray for rendering.
texture created in photoshop.

Nice modeling, textures and light mood, specially on the first image, it looks more alive than in the second. This is a character with style, i love it, nice work

excellent look and design, its a great model. they only crit i can think of is that in the first pic the eyes are too bright/white, this makes them look 2d and distracts from the image a little.

Top work:thumbsup:

first off!
that totally reminds me of turtle dude in "finding Nemo"
good job!
i like the texture you brought to your charachter!!
what kind of tool did you use to make this sweet characher?

Very nice. I really like it. My only gripe is that the teeth need a tad bit more detail. Texture wise

09-26-2003, 12:30 AM
excellent work, I love the stlye of the model and the texturing really adds to it. The only thing that bothers me is that the color scheme consists of mainly brown and yellow. It would be really cool if you added one more color to it to add variation. Maybe some desaturated green to the bumps on the skin or something. Great work!

can you post those texture files. put a water mark with your name over them or something. but id love to see them untouched and just the way they are as aplied.

i'd like to know how you did the texturing,

especially the area where the legs and neck meet eachother.
how'd you get that to match so smoothly?

thanks

Exceptional work. I can tell you really worked hard on the bump map for the turles skin and shell. I also love the texture on the hat. The eyes are like Pixar's eyes, and I think they give it a certain characteristic; makes it look really good. I think the first image's lighting is better too.

great work.. the only crit i have is that you've called it a turtle... sorry dude you've modelled a tortoise.... turtles have flippers, tortoises have feet...

COMMENTS PROPER

that's a very nice looking character, I was reading this month 3dworld mag and there was an animated turtle (as seen in MOBY's new video) and its funny how different they turned out. Is the hat removable off the back of the turtle? would love to see how the character would look without the hat. I like the second image more although it is just a touch too yellow, the glow on the 1st render is a bit bright on this screen.

loving that little chip in the mouth

* you said you used some artist's images as form reference, could you post a pic so we can see how/where you've taken the image from the source material?

Textures are amazing. Someone told me that Pixar writes their own procedural textures for each of there characters with like 30,000 lines of code a piece and your textures look just as good. No matter how hard I work, I always get at least a little texture smearing somewhere, and I don't see any on your model.

What maps are you using? (ie: color, bump, specular, diffuse, ect)

Reminds me of the Chubb Chubbs

Good tortise.

Turtle have web feet. wet texture on them. Form what i see on your based model. It sshould be the african box tortise. those are hardcore tortise that live on dry land.

Good modelling. Oh, i think you have missout the tounge in the mouth. Good bump mapping :D

Great image... Like everyone else I must say great textures and I too would like to see the uv layout... The only thing I would change is make the teeth dirty and also make the lower lip a little fatter and more defined. I personally like the glow effect.. That is done post in Photoshop right?

Now this turtle is turtle enough for the Turtle Club ;) I love nicely done turtles and this one is of no exception. Great colors and lighting especially in the first. The textures as everyone has mentioned already, is definitely the show stopper here. Very nicely done.

great great job. how long did you take to finish it...? just wondering. i very much like the idea and it's definitely PIXAR material. maybe you can send in your demo. just a thot. it does look a bit shiny and maybe you could do something about the eye. and maybe inside the mouth could be alittle bit darker, but other than that....its really good. hope to do some of this work's quality when i get more advanced in 3d. :applause:
