as far as I know lw users dont use hotkeys for viewport avigation (that is,unless they are masochists :D)
what does Alt+LMB do in maya? panning?
why not simply click on a viewport bar@navigation icons and drag?
this way you have the other hand free for numerous other tasks -like holding a drink,or stroke a cat or talk over the phone or you name it
you dont need to "think maya" to use lw,lw thinkflow is much easier...I think :)

Hummm
I use hotkeys, I think is faster, :surprised or maybe I'm kind of masochists :wip:
Try this:
Alt+LMB= rotate
Shift+Alt+LMB=Pan
Ctrl+Alt+LMB=Zoom
When you get use to is really faster and is also more confortable than Maya.... Alt+LMB+MMB for zooming... My fingers hurt after using Maya for a while:)
LNT good to see you around here.

i only use hotkeys
good to see you too yahll :) (errrm.....definitely yes...)
Mike, you completely eliminated the mouse? :surprised (maybe...yes...why not)
I guess I tend to work in the dark a lot so i avoid using hotkeys for such simple things like pan and rotate - y'know'I mean - why screw up? :)
I use hotkeys for all my main tools, plus the mouse hotkeys to zoom, rotate, etc. For the tools I rarely use, I just find them in the popup menus. Very effective!

there is conclusion from this thread.
Almost everyone wants to use shortcuts and hotkeys.
But LW doesn`t allow to define all of it.
It means: could be better :)
Have u seen XSI filosophy of shortcuts?
Button pressed and released, button pressed and holded...
Great idea. Worth a copy.
cheers
