Saur0n 09-24-2003, 09:11 PM Hi folks
I'd like to ask a simple question (simple for some of you),not so simple for me. I'd like to know how do i setup my own shader lybray with a preview of my shaders like the one that comes with maya? Is there any tutorial somewhere?
Thnx in advance:)

Hi Saur0n..
First welcome to CGTalk...
1. Create a new sub shader folder under provided shader library folder (ie project_1)
2. Copy one of .mayaSwatches folder (from provided shader library folder) to your new project_1 folder
Now project_1 has new sub folder named .mayaSwatches
Note : you cannot create new folder named .mayaSwatches, so thats why you need to copy pasted from another shader library folder
3. Delete all files on those new pasted .mayaSwatches folder
4. Create and Export your new shader to your new project_1 shaders folder (ie my_new_shader.ma) [dont put it to your new .mayaSwatches folder]
5. Create a JPG icon for those shaders, you can use snapshot render or photoshop to create cool icons (ie 32x32 pix) 5-12KB should be fine
6. Save it to your new .mayaSwatches folder and rename it to my_new_shader.ma.swatch
Note : The name should match, except .swatch for icons
Then you'll have you're own shaders gallery with cool icons, and you can create another shaders gallery
Tricky ehh... well..it works fine here (Maya 4.0) :)
