I am using a Dell GX110 on the Intel 810e chipset here @ work and was wondering about the RAM performance. Dell was selling only PC100 RAM for this system but the BUS is capable of up to 133. So if I stuck some PC133's into this system would it work? Correct me if I'm wrong but I always thought that RAM should be able to run at the speed of the the system's FSB and running it at any speed lower would bottle neck things (and running anything faster just wouldn't work).

If you put 133 in it you would just be waisting your time and money unless you over clock the sucka.

I used to run 150mhz ram in my P3 1ghz, just because i could get it, but i still run the computer @ 133fsb. I always rather have more head room than not enough.

ram can always be run at lower speeds, just like cpu's.

higher frequency ram has simply been tested to run at higher speeds

so to answer your question: yes it would work but if you don't overclock it then the ram would still run at the same speed as before, unless there is some bios setting to change it.
