hi all,

i've done many searches on this board and found that,

if you use an agp 8 card on an agp 4 mobo that the card
will simply run at a slower speed, right?

but, what about an agp 4 card (quadro4 900 xgl) in
an agp 8 mobo (ie asus A7N8X or asus P4C800 Deluxe)

are there any conflicts/problems?

thanks in advance.

using an AGP8X card in a 4X slot, the card itself will not run slower. the amount of available bandwidth the card has to the main system bus will be less than that available on an AGP8X board. however in real-world terms this won't have too much of an effect.

AGP4X in an 8X slot works fine. i'm typing this from a system running that configuration right now. (geforce4ti4200 AGP4X in an asus A7N8X-X AGP8X motherboard).

the only thing you want to avoid is AGP1X cards in newer boards. this will cause lots of problems.
