I think the floor is to reflective. It makes things difficult to interpret. You should add a base board where the walls meet the floor, it would help define the line between wall and floor. On a personal note, I'm not to crazy about the color scheme. --- 3d_e

Hey modestmouse,
It is a good start. I think the door may bee too low, either that or the ceiling is too high. A light fixture on the ceiling would help (my experience is that waiting rooms have flourescent fixtures recesed into the ceiling). Also, add a small amount of bump or som slight noise in the diffuse to break up the walls a bit. It looks too regular and cg.
keep up the good work:thumbsup:
with the high ceilings and blank walls this looks more what I would imagine the door to heaven looks like than the waiting room in a doctors office.
It looks almost spiritual. Very very nice and I love it.
but its not what you aiming for just yet I don't think.
Quite frankly it looks to nice to be a waiting room it should be cheaper and less clean more low class cheap k mart wal martish.
anyway tahts my opinion.
For a waiting room you need two words Cookie Cutter not originality.

Pretty good start. The lighting needs quite a bit of work. It looks like that little wall sconce is providing 90% of the illumination, which is kind of weird. These office-type environments almost always have ugly overhead flourescent lighting. The desk lamp is shining a concentrated circle of light on the ceiling, but the shade is dark and no light seems to be radiating into the room.
As someone mentioned, the floor is way too shiny. You'd expect to see wall-to-wall carpeting in there, or at least area rugs.
The colors generally seem oversaturated--not the typically relaxing ("yes I know your appointment was for 1:00 and it's now 2:25") waiting room colors.
The glass on the reception desk is a lawsuit waiting to happen. :)
Good bones--keep at it!

I don't know somehow I like the colorscheme. Not the
typical waitingroom colors though. And yes the floor is
to shiny.

ok not sure about colour scheme..but this is all personal choice.
floor to reflective as someone mentioned.
desk light is to spotlighty
chairs are to uniform..texture wise and placement wise
maybe a sign on the door.
maybe a phone or buzzer on the desk.
magazine stack on the table.
what is the waiting room for? cos this should determine what is in it...eg doctors waiting room...might have a box of toys...company waiting room...might have company literature and promotional materials..like a notice board...or corporate logo etc.
keep going bud...

The reason why it is actually a nice waiting room is because I was watching FX's nip tuck and they have great ligting and I was inspired.
Ill work on some stuff soon and post an update.

Well, here's my two cents :
-> this look like sheerazade's waiting room (be carefull with all the different texture and prop styles in the scene.)
-> the cell render should go... i think it does not fit with the ambiance.
-> the desk light is ok now but too much volumetric is generated; lower it by half i would say
-> the floor's still too reflective and it needs a bump. These tiles looks like they are under glass.
->the glass of the light in front of us is not reflective... i think it should have a bright spot somewhere (am i clear enough...)
->Last i think this scene needs some more life; a magazine on the table, some scratch on the chairs leather texture or the door may be slightly open. Something to catch the eye. For now the only thing that jumps out to me is the desk lamp wich style is ... definitely kitchy :D
hope it'll help you, keep on pushing

Thanks for all the comments!!!
I fixed some things (The floor now has a bump, and the lamp is less volumetric, and bye bye to the cell)
What do you mean by this??? "-> this look like sheerazade's waiting room (be carefull with all the different texture and prop styles in the scene.)"

Sheherazade is the heroine of The Thousand and
One Nights; it made me think of kind a arabic style with all it's colors and patterns. But then the furniture & props are really not arabic at all so it makes quite a clash between styles that's all.
But this is personnal anyway...
The floor is far better like that! now we can step on this waiting room; what do we wait for?
