Absolutely superb work. I really love all the little details you've put all over the place - the more I look at the image, the more I little bits and pieces I notice. I really love the monotone feel that the piece has, you've managed to create a nice mixture of storybook and steampunk feel in the painting. I also really like the slightly isometric feel that your perspective has, as immediately gives the image a rather surreal feeling. Really, really lovely work, this is going on the front page.

The colors are interesting, and the faded background makes you focus more on the character, then to be led to the middle and to focus to see everything, which is really good.
Your art reminds me on the style of that guy I cant remember the name of. He wrote a book called "Drawing and Painting The Undead". These surreal characters with weird little details such as gadgets that gives the character depth and realism.

One thing tho. The little ovenlooking gadgettrapthingy he's carrying around with him.. Maybe add some sort of detail to it to actually explain abit to the viewer that this is infact a trap for fairies. Maybe like a fairy trapped inside it? Maybe those silly notches on the side that military airplanes have in movies, to show how many fairies hes trapped?
Just some thoughts. :)

In this concept I wanted to focus on the style of the characters and backgrounds, but in the book you´ll be able to see on detail how works the "ovenlooking gadgettrapthingy" ;)
