If you want to go to Gnomon I would do the BFA and start learning 3D Programs on your own time.

So then is it easier to learn 3D programs if you go to school rather than learning it on your own?

Everyone is different when it comes to learning things. What might work for one person may not work for another.

I would say so, I mean they don't charge you all that money for nothing. It's easier to ask someone 5 feet away from you how to do something vs. having to look it up on the net.
I just put emphasis on traditional skills because they will both help you overall and because of Gnomons portfolio requirements.

Schools are businesses. They do charge you all that money for an education - but that education is completely up to you and how driven and determined you are. You put nothing in, you get nothing out. The money just makes the teachers show up and talk.
It's easier to ask someone 5 feet away from you how to do something vs. having to look it up on the net.
Then you get out of school, and (hopefully) you're still surrounded by folks who are happy to answer your questions. In my opinion, you should start looking for answers on your own as soon as you feel comfortable with the basics. It is crucial to develop the skills necessary to understand the problem, search for solutions, grade the solutions, and then implement whichever one works best.
I would caution anyone against completely relying on others to teach you. I know folks that refuse to learn something unless there is someone showing them, answering their questions, walking them through it step by step. In the beginning, that's ok - but it's not healthy in the long run. You have to do things for yourself - and the sooner, the better. At the same time, I'm not saying you should ignore the pros around you - you should always be learning - just be prepared to figure it out on your own when no-one spells the answer out for you. I think consistently addressing problems increases your capacity for creative solutions, something rarely taught in schools.
Gnomon is a great school, and would be a great choice for what you want to do.
I'm still trying to figure out why you want to go to college first and major in business.
