This is my attempt to create an underwater town. The "mushroom" contains the life support systems, huge air tanks, submarine docking platforms and a "biosphere" in with are buildings and parks. I want to model a few subs, a surface ship, and some probes tied by the buildings. please feel free to c&c.

nice.. could there be more dirt in the water? and the yellow lights look too bright, and could you use visible lights there?

way to go..

Very nice stuff there. In terms of critique, an area that could possibly use a little refinement (IMHO) is the way the vertical tubes all have such a bright glean to them. It's not that they couldn't conceivably be all lit up and bright like that, but I think if they were it would be based upon some other lighting mechanism besides just specularity and reflection. Maybe from some little running lights that reside inside the tubes or something along those lines. But overall, that scene looks very nice and will probably be even more impressive with some submersibles.

I think there are some inconsistencies in the scene. First, water is always a bit dirty so you get light scattering and therefore visable light beams. You did this with the sun light going through the water. However that also means there is some sort of (blueish) fog needed in the scene. The last object should be less visable than the object closest to the camera. What you also could consider is to add volumetric lightsources for the yellow lights. My 2 cents...

how about some sea creatures? fish? reef? sea plants? bubbles. Attention to further detail would do this piece good :)

Hey I like it. There needs to be some life in the scene, sea-water creatures, residents of the domes, plants, corals-like structures. Also I would recommend the light coming from above to be at an angle and more visible with varying size with some fog. Also, the ocean should be dense with all sorts of particles and small elements in the water, it will go along way to enhance the realism. I would also like to see you change the scene to a super wide screen shot, it will give it a more cinematic look.

ditto what tjnyc said but make those domes transparent :)

I really wanna see whats going on inside them.

Anyway I think we should call this. Underwater town of the dead. Until we get some action in that picture it will look quite desolate

Yep, I second Tiny's comments. Also, I think it would look more natural if the haze extended to the nearest objects--just a little. Lookin' good!
