View Full Version : render options
I want to render a plane with only the shadows from other objects on it, I mean I want to render a object with a shadow without the ground
I tryied it with the settings in the attribute editor but if I turn of primary visibility off I see nothing
maybe it works with an alpha map?!

put a use-background-shader on the plane and put the specular color and reflectivity of the shader down.
if you have only the plane and the shadow casting object in the scene you don't actually see the shadow. but if you look at the alpha channel (the white ball button in the render window) you will see. you can take this image an with every compositing programm put it over another. then you'll see the shadow.
or render the shadow seperatly. go to the render options and under the render layer/pass folder switch on global passes. then set everything to off. only the shadow leave on. render. and then you'll find only the shadow in the alpha channel.
