View Full Version : How can i model this mountain?????

Hi,
I use maya , max , Zbrush
How could i model this mountain. Is it box modeling ?? or using lines ( I have the plane of it) or CV curves or what can i do to get this done............
i will lose a lot of money if i didnot do this right, Please i am realy stock here and tried every thing ( I model characters by the way) do you have some kind of a method or program specialist in mountains or somthing like so.
i felt like it cant be done in 3d...
i didnot feel that i need help like this time.please if you know someting or somebody can help. my head has gone because of it.
the mountain is not this but it is the same concept.

I would use a height map. You could try making one by painting in zbrush or photoshop, or maybe find some actual elevation maps of that specific geographical location... or similar.

You mean that grapping the plane on photoShop and paint black and white Image.
If you mean that when i do so the image it become so so small on max.
and as you see the mountain full of details and i doupt that i can get excatly what i want by Black&White image.

You can actually get a lot of nuance out of a grayscale image. The human eye may not detect the subtle changes in gray throughout the image, but the computer does. If you use a 16bit/24bit image, there are even more levels of detail able to be stored within the file. Smoothing will take care of any other artifacting you may encounter.
