View Full Version : object[s] ----> kebab machine / chocolate grinder
j00ey 09-22-2003, 05:46 PM here's another one.
i made these models for a friend of mine, who is making a short film. again, the object was to learn various parts of maya. the chocolate grinder was in fact my first maya model [other than tutorials], then i moved on to the kebab machine to learn some nurbs.

Well, it's an hard thing to like... i must say... I think u should add some smell around it... or send free samples to the viewers... ;)
Nice though, I guess... It looks fine, i mean like the real thing more or less... but not very interesting
I hope u'r not disapointed, but i can say i couldn't do it better :)

thanks for the comments
not disappointed at all. i know it's not the usual car / woman / warrior / mech but i like something a bit different. the chocolate grinder is from a painting by Marcel Duchamp. it and the kebab were supposed to be the beginning and end points of my friends film, pulling the rest of the film along, so to speak, as all the parts of it move across screen, right to left. its a mixture of live action, found footage, montage, and 3d and will be showing at the brighton bienalle in october, if anyone's anywhere round there.
here is a still in case people don't want to download the animation. i know what it's like if you have a slow connection.

In a matter of fact, i must say the picture is much cooler then the movie. Don't know if it's becasue u expect more when downloading a bigger file (even in ADSL), or is it because it's bigger (higher resolution), or even becasue i digested it while night (both meaning) :scream:
I'm woundering what kind of a movie it'll be

hi artist 3d
i'm wondering what sort of movie it will be too. its by an artist called mark leckey - you can find a load of stuff about him here if you're interested

i've seen some rushes and parts currently in post and it's looking very interesting so far.
the kebab machine does look much better full-res. it goes on a background of a slow pan along tottenham court road in london [hence the reflection in the chrome]. the brief to me was to make a bling kebab machine, and that's what i came up with.
i think the chocolate grinder is not going to be used in the end as it's too loaded.
