I need a help to rig the shoulders of the little robot . I tried a lot of tecniques, but it don't work in the right way, so I have no results. If someone can help me can catch the file by follow this link:

this is the file where I tried to rig
thanks

Seems the RAR file is broken. With shoulder covers like that, you are always going to have some limits. As it is, if the arms is going to come forward, then the shoulder pads are going to have to rotate to the back first along the same axis as the arm is extended. Or think of it as the arms have to come down to the sides before they can rotate forward of the body... and the second axis of ratation should take the shoulder pads with it, But I'm not sure if that would look all that good. I love the design of the bot though.

thanks!!!
and for the link there was an error on the html, but now it work fine...
(excuse my english... is very bad...)
but my problem is on the rotational axis, I would like that the shoulder and the arm rotate by their local axis not on the world axis, I did a sketch, but I don't now if is comprensible...

To limit your joints rotations check hierarchy panel. Link info and IK are for you. If you are a beginner try to use some made rig such as Character Studio or Human IK. You can learn a lot bout rigging just using them and then make your own custom rig.

Enjoy

Thanks, but my problems aren't on limits of the rotations of joints, but in the correct rotation of the shoulder and the arm.
I put a position constraint in the arm to a shoulder bones, but for the orientation shoulder and arm must sincronize.
I tried a look at constraint for the arm, that look at a helper point in the elbow, but his Y local axis is still incorrect, and I don't know how I can do with the shoulder. I tried a rotation list controller too, with a euler xyz and a look at, but with no results.
I did a lot of character rigging in the past, for my work and for fun, but this is my first mechanical char rig.

have your tried using and orientation constrain??
you can use tw targets (clavicle and shoulder)
and then the rotation of the shoulder will be shared by both.
if you use this type of constraint you can then link you choulder plate to the point, that way you can animate on top of th constraint if need.
also if you want to get real nasty.
you can use a script controller on the weights fo the constraints
the blend the waights between bones depening on the positon of the hand control.
either way, try an orientation controller with tow targets, it might get you there.
Cheers,
Los.

Thanks!!!
I tried, and it seems to work, but to rotate by their local axis I have to link both pieces to two dummies.
so I have used wire parameters to control axis, but now the problem is changed.....

I control the rotation of the shoulder with the arm, but the expression for the arm???????
......... .....I really don't know how to do.....
