View Full Version : Layers & Modeling
TheWriter 09-22-2003, 11:39 AM Does anyone use Max's layers for Modeling? It seems to be usefull for tweaking a scene if your laying objects out in palletes, but what if you want to toggle certain objects on & off while modeling? I may be over looking something here.

I'm not familiar with layers. I do frequently
right click and hide objects while working
on other bits from the radial menus. What
are layers? It might be something I don't
know your name for that I do use.

Layers is a REALLY good idea if you are doing anything that is in layers in real life.
In other words.....
Architectural: Floors, roof, trusses, etc...)
Mechanical: Pneumatics, treads, casings, etc...)
I suppose you could even use it for just about anything.
The problem with Hiding, is that to Unhide, you have to sift through names and all that blah blah.
With layers you can turn a whole set on and off faster.

Layers are very mandatory these days, but I think discreet was thinking of something else when they used this name.
