12inch Anatomy Model

I'm not convinced by the accuracy of this model, not only proportionally but even from the overly small images there seems to be some noticeable errors anatomically.

I'm comparing it to my anatomy books and not seeing errors...would love to know what errors you see.

The anatomy is all 'there' but it certainly looks out of whack. The deltoids are enormous & the trapezius is very small... It doesn't really show the twist in the pectoral muscle & overall it looks more like a he-man toy.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be helpful - like I say all the actual muscles seem to be there, but it terms of proportions it's not great & proportions count for a lot in anatomy :)

I could go into why I don't buy the abs but I'll just say the biggest factor that puts me off this, is the fact that everything 'slots' together. Too many artists are guilty of this already, one muscle locking straight into another which isn't correct.

I'd wager someone using this would sculpt the mass, then cut in with lines as harsh and flush as they are in the sculpt as it doesn't seem to show any of the other factors involved. Though you could argue thats down to the artist, I think it instills this bad practice.

And lastly the comment "Our models are not dissected nor made to show the skeletal features as this often hinders a model’s usefulness as an accurate tool." made me laugh.

I could paint a technically accurate muscle surface onto Mickey Mouse, but would that make it a suitable anatomy model of a mouse?

I'd go with any of these (http://anatomytools.com/products/anatomy) instead. You get what you pay for.

i agree that this one isn't that great and i'd never buy it, but i like the idea of something more affordable than the anatomy tools model.

check out the microman figures. i have about 8 males and one female. you can really take those ANYWHERE you want. just ebay microman material force and you are bound to find them. theres also the obitsu dolls. though the obitsu are not as articulated as the hot toys male or eve female models. theres also a 6-7 inch spiderman 2 figure with 40+ articulation points. you can find these in ebay or amazon. dont confuse it with the 18 inch figure. the one im telling you to get is small and you can take it anywhere you like.
