View Full Version : Maya on OSX question
Hello!
I am using Maya 5 on OSX, got this little problem with mentalray though.. Anyone tried generating a finalgather file for caching? Works well on a PC, but the file won't generate on mac, don't know if I missed something.
Any clues?

Go to your help menu, and navagate here.
That help menu will get you out of about any jam.

Turn on final gather
For more information on mental ray for Maya final gather, see Final Gather.
To turn on final gather
Turn on Final Gather in the Render Global Settings window.
Open the Render Global Settings window (Window > Rendering Editors > Render Globals, then select mental ray from the Render Using drop-down list).
Select PreviewFinalgather from the Render Quality drop-down list in the mentalrayGlobals tab. This automatically turns on Final Gather in the corresponding PreviewFinalgather tab
Specify the number of Final Gather Rays.
Note
Final Gather is view dependent and is recalculated if you move your camera, even when "Final Gather Rebuild" is unchecked in the Render Globals.
For more information about Global Illumination, see section 1.32 Final Gathering in the online mental ray version 3.2 reference guide.
I hope that helps. :)
