View Full Version : Maya Paint Layers
Quizboy 09-22-2003, 10:15 AM hi, in Maya Paint is it possible to import a sketch image and paint over that in real time? Also is it then possible to gt multiple layers going like in Photoshop?

what i mean is, you get the white screen in Maya Paint which you can paint on freely, but you've only got this one layer...

Has anyone here ever used the Paint Effects screen for just 2D drawing?

2d paint in Maya is ultra simplistic.
one layer, one undo.
you can open your own image.
you can middle mouse button drag a texture from the hypershade to the paint window. you can set it up so that it saves (with alpha) and you can see that update on a 3d model in (semi) real time.
but no photoshop-like action.
i really wish Alias would improve the 2d paint functionality... even the 3d paint could use some work actually.

OK, at least i know that it can't do any more than what i think it can. Shame though, because the ink brushes are so amazing and i don't have those in photoshop.
...i guess they have to leave room for improvement in Maya 5.5
thanks womanonfire!:hmm:
