View Full Version : connect poly shape and sub'D in Unlimited?
Lunatique 05-26-2002, 04:14 PM I keep reading about Connect Poly Shape, and it seems to me it was designed to emulate Sub-Division for people who didn't have the Unlimited version of Maya.
I'm using Unlimited, and it's already got Sub'D. So, do I still need Connect Poly Shape? I've read that CPS is even better than the Sub'D in Unlimited? Can someone confirm that? If it is better, HOW is it better than Sub'D in Unlimited?

you don't really need it, because it's just the way you work with subds in unlimited. if you convert a poly to subds then you can switch between poly-proxy and hirarchie mode.
in hirarchie mode you really work on the subds self. in poly proxy you're working on the underlying poly object from that you've created the subds. the subd then will always update if you change the shape of the poly proxy.
cps just copies the way you can work with subds in unlimited to give the complete users the chance to do something similiar in working with poly objects and poly-smooth function.
