View Full Version : monitor output from afx5 with pinnacle dv 500
j00ey 09-21-2003, 05:25 PM hi all
this could be a dumb question but anyway...
i'm teaching a friend some after effects [5] and he uses a pinnacle dv 500. in premiere he can just put a clip in the timeline and it will play on his tv monitor, but in afx not so.
in preferences/video preview he just has the 'desktop only' option. is there any way to set it up to use the tv monitor, even if only for non-effected sequences? i remember hearing somewhere that matrox do a plug-in for the same purpose [though i don't know where i heard it].
thanks in advance

hi deathbrain
how's it going?
looked at your old prison and 40's train station the other day. FANTASTIC!
i'll look at those pinnacle things in the morning - thanks
i'm at work again at the moment, so no time for investigating.
i finished the animation i was working on by the way [the one you helped me with on the displacement etc]. i've only got it as a 30mb quicktime at the moment, but i'll make a lower-res divX when i get chance, and put it up somewhere if you'd like to see it.
anyway, type again soon!

hi again deathbrain
just taking a look at the zip and the link...
the 'more info' link on the pinnacle page is useless, as i discovered yesterday, is the rest of their site.
but apart from that... do you know where to put the 2 files in the zip?:
After Effects Output Settings.aom
After Effects Render Settings.ars
i have tried them in several subdirs of afx and relaunched the program but no change.
sorry for stupidity
thanks

After Effects Output Settings.aom
After Effects Render Settings.ars
This is hardware render file, copy this 2 file to your after effects main folder
A little hard work for DV-500 with after affects
download this (http://www.pinnaclesys.com/SupportFiles/Readme45.doc) documentation from pinnacle then go to after effects section :)

here's a link to the animation [and another 1 too]. the kebab one looks much better at 200% - the compression screws up the upright lines at 100.

i'm going to post these on the main forum too, see what people say

Woww...thats really cool, i've downloaded :D
On animal.wmv everythings is ok, excpet at the end...(falling clips) i think you should add more dynamics work :)
on kebab_grinder_divx.avi, i really like the reflection environment and the details, that is a good thing to start detailing, keep up the good work jooey :applause:
